Cross-Border Forum on Environmental Justice and Disinformation

WHERE: Krško, Slovenia

WHEN: Friday, 15 May – Saturday, 16 May 2026

Policy Lab (Slovenia) and the Institute for Political Ecology (Croatia) invite you to a 2-day cross-border forum IMAGINE. INSPIRE. IGNITE. that opens a space for reflection on environmental issues, disinformation, and democracy in border regions.

Why forum?
Border communities also in Slovenia and Croatia today often face a combination of environmental challenges, development pressures, and the spread of disinformation. These dynamics shape public debates, influence policymaking, and affect trust in democratic processes.

The forum addresses these intersections:

  • how disinformation spreads in local environments
  • how it shapes the understanding of climate and development issues, the role of civil society,
  • and how we can strengthen collaboration, participation, and community-driven initiatives.

Who is it for?
The forum is intended for young people between 18–35 years from Slovenia and Croatia who are interested in:

  • environmental issues and justice
  • media, culture and disinformation
  • democracy, participation, and collaboration.

What can you expect?
The programme combines discussions, workshops, and space for informal exchange:

  • understanding how disinformation operates in local contexts
  • concrete examples of environmental and development-related conflicts
  • group work on solutions for more inclusive and informed decision-making
  • connecting with participants from Slovenia and Croatia

This is not a traditional conference, but a space for co-creation, sharing experiences, and building new connections.

Programme (indicative):

Friday, 15 May

– welcome coffee and refreshments
– discussions and roundtables
– evening gathering and dinner

Saturday, 16 May

– workshops and group work
– concluding discussions
– lunch and closing
